## Security: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regional hosting

Put 1up and Tribble through the same three questions a security reviewer will ask: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and whether you can keep the tenancy in the US or the EU. Cells say **Not listed** when we could not find the claim on a public vendor page.

## Slack and Microsoft Teams

During a live questionnaire, SMEs get pinged in Slack or Teams, not in a vendor portal. Here is what 1up and Tribble publish for those two connections.

## Subprocessors: the big three clouds, then the niche names

Compare 1up and Tribble on AWS, Azure and GCP first. Then scan for niche processors a reviewer should pause on: third-party LLMs, session replay, or support that leaves the region you elected.

**Short answer:** Pick 1up if you want a free plan, a price list, and a sales-enablement bot you can turn on without a demo. Pick Tribble if you want a governed answer layer that cites evidence, routes unsupported questions to an expert, prices Respond by the project so contributors are included, and adds Engage for reps in Slack and on calls. Only 1up will tell you the dollars first. Only Tribble publishes a fund-DDQ path with a consistency check in this directory’s record.

[1up](/1up) was founded in 2022, is based in New York, and states $8.5 million in funding. [Tribble](/tribble) was founded in 2023, with headquarters recorded as Marina Del Rey, California. A GlobeNewswire release dated 2 May 2024 announced the public launch and notes that Tribble joined Salesforce Ventures’ $500 million Generative AI Fund in June 2023\. Customers 1up names include JumpCloud, WalkMe and Deliveroo. Customers Tribble names include Salesforce, UiPath, Freshworks, Clari, Sprout Social and Snowflake.

These two get confused because both sit in chat. The useful distinction is the contract around the chat. 1up is something a revenue team can buy on a card. Tribble is something a revenue team evaluates with a seller, then splits across two products that share one Brain.

A separate write-up, [Loopio vs Tribble](/comparisons/loopio-vs-tribble-2026), covers Tribble against a classic library. This page is for buyers who already rejected the library suite and are choosing between two AI-native layers.

## Key takeaways

- **Commercial model:** 1up is freemium with flat monthly tiers. Tribble is quote-only, with no trial on the pricing page (both checked October 2026).
- **Meters:** 1up caps automations (1 a month on the $300 plan, 6 on the $900 plan) and includes unlimited users from Starter up. Tribble prices Respond per project, with every contributor included, and Engage per user per month.
- **Evidence on the answer:** Tribble’s record says each draft carries a source citation and a confidence signal, and questions it cannot support go to an expert. 1up attributes answers to linked documents. 1up also blocks questions that contain names, emails, domains or URLs.
- **Adjacent product:** Tribble Engage is a sales assistant in Slack, Teams and a web app, with Gong on the integration list. 1up’s adjacent product is the same knowledge base inside Slack, Teams and Google Chat, without a separate call-intelligence product in the record.
- **Reviews:** Tribble is 4.7 out of 5 on G2 from 162 reviews (July 2026). 1up has no review-site rating stored in this directory. G2’s May 2026 summary of Tribble says users reported setup issues, frequent UI changes, occasional inaccuracies, and responses some found slower than expected.
- **Security badges:** 1up lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001\. Tribble lists SOC 2 Type II. An ISO 27001 certificate for Tribble is not in this record.

## Two ways to put an answer in Slack

Concede the thing each one is actually good at, because the category pages blur them.

1up’s genuine strength is the start. A free-forever plan (one admin, 50 uploads, 50 answers a month), a $50 MCP plan with pay-as-you-go automations at $5 per 100 answers, and a free trial on the paid tiers mean a sales manager can test the bot before procurement wakes up. Starter at $300 a month is where unlimited users, chat plugins, the browser extension and SSO appear. Plus at $900 a month raises the automation allowance to six questionnaires a month and the file ceiling to 200\. Annual billing saves 15%. For a team that wants breadth past the RFP (the enablement question in the middle of a deal), that packaging is the product. Named connectors include Slack, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, Salesforce, Google Drive, Confluence, SharePoint, Notion, OneDrive, Egnyte and Highspot.

Tribble’s genuine strength is the audit trail around a generated answer. The directory record describes a governed layer: answers link to supporting evidence, the Brain indexes documents, CRM context and past proposals, and low-support questions escalate to a person. Respond covers RFPs, DDQs and security questionnaires. The DDQ page, checked October 2026, is specific: parse XLSX, DOCX or PDF, draft from fund documents and prior DDQs, show confidence scores and source links, route to compliance review, and run a consistency check before export. That is a real workflow for an asset manager, not a generic “we do DDQs” line. Engage then serves sales answers in Slack and Teams, and Gong is listed so call recordings can feed the same base. 1up does not list Gong.

If your sellers only need a cited reply in chat, both qualify and 1up is easier to try. If compliance has to sign a fund DDQ and see that two sections do not contradict each other, Tribble has published the steps and 1up has not.

## What “included” means on each invoice

Tribble will not show a dollar until a call. The sentence on its pricing page is: “Tell us your numbers and we’ll give you a price on the call.” The structure it will discuss is still public.

- Respond: priced by projects a year. Each RFP, DDQ or security questionnaire counts as one project. Everyone who helps answer it is included.
- Engage: priced per user, per month, for sales answers in Slack, Teams and the web app.
- The Brain is included with both.
- Single sign-on, user permissions, and the tools you connect are listed as factors in the price for both products.
- No free trial and no free plan appear on the page.

There is a wording wrinkle to raise on that call. The DDQ page describes “annual platform editions based on response volume, included projects, and included Sales Agent users,” which is not the same sentence as the pricing page’s per-project and per-user split. Ask which structure the order form will use. Do not invent a dollar figure to fill the gap.

1up’s invoice is the table:

| Plan | Monthly price (October 2026) | Constraint that actually binds |
| ---------- | ---------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | $0 | 1 admin, 50 uploads, 50 answers a month |
| MCP | $50 plus usage | $5 per 100 automated answers |
| Starter | $300 | 1 questionnaire a month, 50 files, unlimited users |
| Plus | $900 | 6 questionnaires a month, 200 files, unlimited users |
| Enterprise | Custom | Unlimited uploads, higher automation volume |

A team that wants both a questionnaire product and a rep-facing assistant on Tribble is buying two meters. On 1up those two jobs are one subscription, until the questionnaire cap or the file cap says otherwise. A team with 25 occasional experts and 30 projects a year should price Tribble’s “contributors included” against 1up’s automation cap. Thirty projects a year fits inside Plus’s six a month. Thirty projects a month does not.

SSO is free to ask about and expensive to assume. On 1up it starts at Starter. On Tribble it is a factor in the quote. Either way, write it into the order.

## Setup, sources and the rows that do not draft

1up’s help center draws a bright line. Questions that contain names, emails, domains or URLs are always blocked as PII. The block cannot be overridden. A person answers those rows. On a security review that is full of subprocessor domains, expect a stack of manual cells. The rest of the sheet can still draft from Drive, Confluence, Notion or SharePoint. The facts record also says 1up attributes an answer to the linked document, and that sentence-level quotations are not the depth some suites show. Reviewers should open the source, not only the paragraph.

Tribble’s setup burden shows up in reviews, not in a help-center hard stop. G2’s May 2026 review summary, quoted in this directory’s facts, says users experienced issues with initial setup, frequent UI changes and occasional inaccuracies, and some found response time slower than expected. The same summary credits learning over time with better answers. That pair of statements is the honest picture: the product asks for an upfront source-ranking effort, and reviewers say the early period is uneven. Tribble’s own pages say unsupported questions are marked and routed to an expert, whose reviewed reply stays in the Brain. That routing is the control. It only helps if the expert actually answers.

Bring one messy questionnaire to both. On 1up, count blocked PII rows and see whether six automations a month is the right unit. On Tribble, count answers that cite the wrong exhibit, and time how long the Slack escalation takes when the model declines.

## Security and company stage

1up lists SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001, plus GDPR in the facts file. Tribble lists SOC 2 Type II. If your questionnaire template marks ISO 27001 as mandatory, Tribble does not satisfy that from the public record used here. Ask, and treat silence as a no until a certificate arrives.

Company stage is not a moral category. It does change reference calls. 1up’s public funding figure is $8.5 million. Tribble’s public launch was May 2024, after a 2023 start and the Salesforce Ventures fund note. G2 shows 162 Tribble reviews as of July 2026 at 4.7 out of 5\. That is a real sample, smaller than the incumbent suites, large enough to read. 1up’s sample is not in this directory at all, so you are relying on the vendor’s customer names and your own pilot.

Neither record documents a customer-elected EU versus US hosting switch in the detail Responsive or Loopio publish. If residency is a gate, it is a question for both order forms, not a point scored from these pages.

## Known issues and limitations

### 1up

- **Caps before Enterprise:** Starter is one questionnaire a month and 50 files. Plus is six questionnaires and 200 files. Unlimited uploads are Enterprise only, per [pricing](https://1up.ai/pricing) and the [FAQ](https://help.1up.ai/en/articles/12997092-faq) (checked October 2026).
- **Plugins are a paid tier:** Slack, Teams, Google Chat, the browser extension and SSO are absent from Free and from the $50 MCP plan, per [pricing](https://1up.ai/pricing) (checked October 2026).
- **PII block:** names, emails, domains and URLs cannot be answered by the model and cannot be overridden, per [generating answers](https://help.1up.ai/en/articles/12997274-generating-answers) (checked October 2026).
- **No review-site rating on file:** unlike Tribble’s 162 G2 reviews (July 2026), 1up has none recorded here.

- **No public price and no trial:** the [pricing page](https://tribble.ai/pricing/) says “Tell us your numbers and we’ll give you a price on the call” and lists neither a free plan nor a trial (checked October 2026).
- **Two products, extra price factors:** Respond is per project and Engage is per user per month. SSO, permissions and connected tools also move the quote, per the same page. The [DDQ page](https://tribble.ai/ddq-automation/) describes annual platform editions (both checked October 2026).
- **Reviewer-reported rough edges:** [G2’s May 2026 summary](https://ai.g2.com/product/tribble) says users experienced issues with initial setup, frequent UI changes and occasional inaccuracies, and some found response time slower than expected (checked October 2026).
- **SOC 2 Type II only, in this record:** ISO 27001 is not listed for Tribble, while 1up’s site lists both SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.

## Choose 1up when

- A manager can expense a pilot, and a free plan or a $300 tier is the right size for the first month.
- The same answers need to show up in Google Chat as well as Slack and Teams.
- Questionnaire volume is modest enough to live inside one or six automations a month.
- You want unlimited users without a second per-seat product for “the sales bot.”
- You accept that any row containing a domain or a person’s name waits for a human.
- ISO 27001 on the vendor’s own page is something your security team wants to see before the first call.

## Choose Tribble when

- You will run a demo on a real RFP, and a missing sticker price is acceptable.
- Many occasional experts touch each bid, and you want them included in a per-project price.
- You answer LP DDQs and want compliance routing plus a consistency check before export.
- Sales leadership wants Engage, Gong, or call context in the same knowledge base as the RFP.
- You can budget time for setup, because G2’s May 2026 summary says the early experience includes setup issues and occasional inaccuracies.
- A 4.7 score from 162 reviews is enough social proof, and you will still read that summary before you treat the score as a quality guarantee.

## A third row, if the test is abstention

1up blocks some rows with a PII rule. Tribble routes unsupported questions to an expert. Those are different controls, and a buyer who needs both a governed system of record and an AI-native draft should also score [AutoRFP.ai](/autorfp-ai). Put it in the AI-native row and in the accuracy and compliance row, not in the “cheapest chat bot” row. Zero hallucination by design: AutoRFP.ai writes only from approved content, cites its sources, and routes anything it cannot support to a person. Use your own questionnaire as the test. A percentage on a homepage does not locate the bad answer. A citation does.

## What to put in the pilot script

A week is enough if you use a questionnaire you already submitted. Score both tools on the same sheet.

- Count rows each product drafts, rows it refuses, and rows a person rewrites.
- Open every citation. A link to the right folder with the wrong paragraph still fails.
- On 1up, note how many rows die on the PII rule because they contain a domain or a name, and whether six automations a month matches how you count a “questionnaire.”
- On Tribble, time the expert escalation when the Brain declines, and check whether the DDQ consistency pass flags a contradiction you planted on purpose.
- Write down SSO, Salesforce, and Gong as priced or included. On 1up, SSO starts at Starter. On Tribble, SSO is a factor in the quote.
- Ignore any homepage percentage. The sheet in front of you is the only denominator you can defend to a buyer or an LP.

That script keeps the decision on behavior you can see. It also stops a slick Slack demo from standing in for a 200-row workbook.

## Verdict

1up is the self-serve layer: published prices, a free start, chat in three products, and hard caps you can read before you buy. Tribble is the quote-led layer: evidence-linked drafts, a real DDQ path, Engage as a second product, and a review summary that mentions setup pain and occasional inaccuracies in the same breath as a 4.7 score.

Choose 1up when the risk is buying a platform you will not roll out. Choose Tribble when the risk is giving reps and proposal writers two different answers. If the risk is an unsupported sentence reaching a customer or an LP, require the routing behavior in a pilot, and include the source-grounded option above in that same pilot.

## Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between 1up and Tribble?

Both are AI-native answer layers for RFPs, DDQs and security questionnaires. 1up, founded in 2022 in New York, is self-serve: a free plan, published monthly prices, and answers in Slack, Teams and Google Chat. Tribble, founded in 2023, drafts from a knowledge base it calls the Brain, sells Respond per project and Engage per user, and does not publish a price or a trial.

Which is cheaper, 1up or Tribble?

Only 1up publishes figures: $0, then $50, $300 and $900 a month, with a 15% saving on annual billing (October 2026). Tribble's pricing page says, "Tell us your numbers and we'll give you a price on the call." Respond is priced per project with contributors included. Engage is priced per user per month.

Which is better for DDQs?

Tribble documents a DDQ workflow for asset managers: it parses XLSX, DOCX or PDF, drafts from fund documents and prior DDQs with confidence scores and source links, routes to compliance reviewers, and runs a consistency check before export. 1up answers DDQs from connected knowledge in Excel, Word and PDF, without that fund-specific routing in its record.

Do 1up and Tribble work in Slack and Salesforce?

Yes. 1up's chat plugins start on the $300 Starter plan, alongside a browser extension and SSO. Tribble lists Slack, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce, HubSpot, Gong, Google Drive, SharePoint and Confluence, and prices SSO and connected tools as factors in the quote.

Is there a free trial?

1up has a free-forever plan and a free trial on paid plans. Tribble's pricing page lists no free plan and no free trial. Quotes happen on a demo call.

Should I choose 1up or Tribble?

Choose 1up if you want to start without a sales cycle and your questionnaire count fits the plan caps. Choose Tribble if you want project-based pricing with every contributor included, a fund DDQ path, and a sales assistant (Engage) on the same knowledge base, and you can run a guided evaluation.

Do 1up and Tribble list ISO 27001, SOC 2, and US or EU hosting?

1up: ISO 27001 ISO 27001, SOC 2 SOC 2, US Not listed, EU Not listed, Slack Slack, Teams Microsoft Teams, clouds Not listed. Tribble: ISO 27001 Not listed, SOC 2 SOC 2 Type II, US Not listed, EU Not listed, Slack Slack, Teams Microsoft Teams, clouds Not listed. Confirm both on the vendor sites.
