# Conveyor vs SafeBase (2026): pricing, features and verdict

Conveyor: AI security questionnaires plus an agentic trust center. SafeBase: Trust center first, AI questionnaire drafts second (now part of Drata).

## Quick verdict

Choose Conveyor for security and sales teams handling a steady flow of customer security reviews who want questionnaires and a trust center in one place; choose SafeBase for security teams that want buyers to self-serve from a trust center, with AI drafts for the questionnaires that still arrive. ## Security: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regional hosting

Put Conveyor and SafeBase through the same three questions a security reviewer will ask: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and whether you can keep the tenancy in the US or the EU. Cells say **Not listed** when we could not find the claim on a public vendor page.

## Subprocessors: the big three clouds, then the niche names

Compare Conveyor and SafeBase on AWS, Azure and GCP first. Then scan for niche processors a reviewer should pause on: third-party LLMs, session replay, or support that leaves the region you elected.

Confirm it appears on the current subprocessor list and DPA.SafeBase says it does not use customer data for training and that customers can opt out of generative AI. The full subprocessor list now sits in the Drata trust center; the hosting cloud for the main database is not named in the AI article. |

**Short answer:** Pick [Conveyor](/conveyor) if you want a trust center you can open on a free plan, questionnaire drafts that cite a source and carry a confidence score, and an Enterprise quote based on usage with unlimited users. Pick [SafeBase](/safebase) if the trust center should sit inside Drata: SafeBase was acquired by Drata, the deal was announced on February 11, 2025, and the trust center plus AI questionnaire assistant are now Drata’s Assurance Platform. Conveyor publishes no headquarters. SafeBase’s site redirects to Drata.

This is a closer match than Conveyor against a full RFP suite. Both products exist so a buyer can self-serve security documents, and so the questionnaires that still arrive can be drafted from that same material. The split is ownership and packaging. Conveyor is a standalone company, spun out of Aptible in 2021, with its own trust center at trust.conveyor.com. SafeBase is a product line on Drata’s plans page, in Foundation, Advanced and Enterprise tiers, all quote-only.

What follows is taken from Conveyor’s pricing, docs and trust center, and from Drata’s plans page, the acquisition announcement, and SafeBase’s help center, checked in October 2026.

## Key takeaways

- **Same job, different parent:** Conveyor still sells itself. SafeBase’s plans URL redirects to Drata, and the vendor summary calls it Drata’s Assurance Platform.
- **What you can start without a quote:** Conveyor’s free trust center includes 10 credits a month, up to 15 documents and 15 knowledge-base Q&As, a Conveyor-branded clickwrap NDA and watermarking. SafeBase lists no free plan and no trial.
- **How drafts are checked:** Conveyor cites source documents and scores confidence. SafeBase shows the source the AI used, including Analyzed Facts. A confidence score is not described for SafeBase.
- **Questionnaire allowance:** Conveyor meters Enterprise as credits and does not publish a rate. SafeBase Foundation includes AI Questionnaire Assistance for 10 questionnaires, with more sold as an add-on. Word, PDF and TXT support is listed from Advanced.
- **Models and scope:** Conveyor’s pricing FAQ points at OpenAI and Anthropic under zero data retention agreements. SafeBase’s technical article says the main model is Google Gemini via Vertex AI Agent Builder, and that relevant snippets are passed in context only. SafeBase says it does not use customer data for training, and customers can opt out of generative AI.
- **Limitations:** Conveyor stores customer content in the United States and keeps questionnaire automation off the free plan. SafeBase’s own FAQ says the assistant “is optimized to answer security-related questions and we cannot guarantee that it will perform well on general RFP questions.”

## Two trust centers, one of them inside a GRC suite

Conveyor’s about page dates the company to 2021, a spin-out from Aptible, with a Seed round then, a $12.5 million Series A in 2023, and a $20 million Series B in 2025\. Customers named by Conveyor include Zapier, Zendesk, Sumo Logic, Carta, Alteryx, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, dbt Labs and Lucid. The pitch on the security-questionnaire page is an agent that can take a request from Slack, a CRM or a ticketing system and return a completed questionnaire, plus a trust center where buyers self-serve documents. Questionnaires and the trust center share one knowledge library, so the answer a buyer reads in the portal can match the answer you send in the spreadsheet. That shared library is a genuine strength. Grant it, and then check it: publish a policy, change a sentence, and see whether the next draft moves.

SafeBase was founded in 2020\. Drata announced the acquisition on February 11, 2025\. Customers named on the SafeBase record include Abnormal, OpenAI, Twilio, CrowdStrike and LinkedIn. The acquisition post is the source for several of those names, so treat them as Drata’s published list, and confirm current logos if a procurement memo depends on them. The product that remains is a branded trust center with clickwrap NDAs and automated access approvals, plus AI Questionnaire Assistance that drafts from the Knowledge Base and trust center content. Deflection and drafting share one content source. That is SafeBase’s genuine strength, and it is the same design idea Conveyor sells. The difference you can verify on the page is where you buy it, and what else Drata attaches.

SafeBase is filed in this directory under security questionnaires. Conveyor is filed under security questionnaires, AI-native and RFP response, because it also sells an AI RFP module for RFPs, RFIs and RFQs. SafeBase’s FAQ is explicit about the boundary, and the words are theirs: AIQA “is optimized to answer security-related questions and we cannot guarantee that it will perform well on general RFP questions.” If your queue is mixed RFPs and security reviews, that sentence belongs in the shortlist notes. Conveyor markets the RFP module separately and does not describe a dedicated DDQ workflow. Neither record is a full proposal-operations suite.

## What the buyer sees, and what your team still answers

Conveyor’s free trust center is a branded experience with a catch written on the pricing page: the NDA is Conveyor-branded, documents are watermarked, and you do not get questionnaire automation or integrations. For a team that only needs to stop attaching the SOC 2 PDF to email, that catch can be acceptable for a while. Enterprise removes the branding limits as part of full platform access, on a usage quote. The trust center can hold NDA-gated documents, and the product page describes a buyer-facing AI agent on that same knowledge.

SafeBase’s Foundation tier, as listed on Drata’s plans page, includes a branded Trust Center, a Knowledge Base, clickwrap NDAs, automated access approvals, up to 100 approved domains, Slack and Teams, a Chrome extension, and AI Questionnaire Assistance for 10 questionnaires. More questionnaires are an add-on. Advanced adds configurable access expiration, DocuSign or Ironclad for the NDA, SCIM, Salesforce and HubSpot, Google Drive document sync, and support for Word, PDF and TXT questionnaires. Enterprise adds enterprise dashboards, Microsoft Dynamics, data warehouse sync, Microsoft Purview, and questionnaire upload via Salesforce or API. No dollar figure is attached to any tier. The button is personalized pricing.

Access approvals are a SafeBase strength worth naming. Slack and Teams bots let approvers handle access requests and assigned questions without logging into the product. Conveyor’s Slack integration covers notifications, self-serve answers and questionnaire intake, and Teams is documented for notifications. If the person who approves an NDA lives in Slack, both can meet them there. SafeBase’s bot article is specifically about access approvals and assignments. Conveyor’s agent story is specifically about picking up the questionnaire request. Read the help article that matches the bottleneck you actually have.

## How an answer is produced

Conveyor drafts from approved answer sources. Every response cites a source document. Confidence scoring flags what needs a person. The knowledge library tracks verification status, curators, tags and product lines. An AI Librarian flags outdated content. Past questionnaires and synced drives and wikis can sit in the same pool. For standard files, the docs say Conveyor auto-detects completed SIG Lite or Core, HECVAT v3 and v4, and CAIQ v3, v4 and AI-CAIQ v1, if the file is still in the original layout. A portal extension covers portals such as OneTrust and Whistic. Export returns the original format.

SafeBase AIQA runs across a whole questionnaire. It generates answers from documents, the Knowledge Base, Trust Center content, external websites, and policies and controls synced from Drata. A person reviews and approves. The Sources area shows what the AI used, including auto-generated Analyzed Facts. Approved responses can be added back to the Knowledge Base. Imports on the help-center list are CSV, Excel, Word, PDF and TXT, or portal questions via the Chrome extension. Sheet-style exports go back in the original format. Questions can be assigned with due dates and move from Ready For Review to Approved, with a My Questions view. A multi-stage approver chain is not described.

Two limits on SafeBase’s extension are written in the help center. It cannot read portals that block tools from reading their content, and those need a manual upload. On a multi-product trust center, AI answers are limited to a single product. Conveyor’s standard-file parser has its own limit: original Shared Assessments, EDUCAUSE or Cloud Security Alliance layouts. Bring one native SIG and one portal that is hostile to extensions. You will learn more from those two files than from a feature checklist.

SafeBase’s technical article names the model path. Google Gemini, through Vertex AI Agent Builder, is the main model, and relevant snippets are passed in context only. Vellum, a third-party AI workflow tool, sits in the questionnaire pipeline. The record flags Vellum as a niche vendor on the answer path: confirm it is on the current subprocessor list and in the DPA. SafeBase says customer data is not used for training and that customers can opt out of generative AI. The hosting cloud for the main database is not named in that AI article. The full subprocessor list now sits in the Drata trust center.

Conveyor’s model path is OpenAI and Anthropic, with zero data retention agreements according to the pricing FAQ. Pinecone holds embeddings. LangChain is listed for monitoring ConveyorAI. Customer content is stored in the United States, on a notice that also says inference may travel providers’ global networks without rest storage outside the US. Clouds named are AWS and GCP, plus Aptible. The public list has 27 subprocessors, last updated July 14, 2026.

Certificates follow the parent. Conveyor lists SOC 2 Type II, covering Security, Availability and Confidentiality. ISO 27001 is not on Conveyor’s certification list. SafeBase’s old trust host redirects to Drata’s trust center, which lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO 42001, HIPAA and GDPR. The vendor notes say to confirm the SafeBase product is in scope of the certificate and that the SOC 2 report covers the SafeBase environment. Ask that in writing. A redirect is not the same sentence as “this product is in the report.”

## Reviews, customers and the size of the public record

Conveyor is at 4.6 out of 5 on G2 from 150 reviews, as of July 2026\. SafeBase’s rating on the record is Capterra: 4.7 out of 5 from 3 reviews, as of October 2026\. Three reviews can be sincere and still be a thin base. Do not treat 4.7 from three write-ups as a larger evidence set than 4.6 from 150\. There is no G2 score for SafeBase in the vendor record, so none is repeated here.

Customer lists answer a different question: who has been willing to be named. Conveyor’s list is mostly B2B software and data companies. SafeBase’s named list, via Drata, includes security and communications brands (CrowdStrike, Twilio, LinkedIn, OpenAI, Abnormal). Named customers are not a feature comparison. They tell you which security review the vendor has already survived in public.

The practical budget question is which meter you will hit. Conveyor will ask you to forecast Trust Center credits and Questionnaire credits, and will not show the rate until sales does. SafeBase Foundation covers 10 AI-assisted questionnaires and then an add-on. A team that answers two questionnaires a month uses Foundation’s included 10 before the year is half over, and Word and PDF support is listed from Advanced. Count last year’s questionnaires before the call. The count is yours. The cap is theirs.

## Known issues and limitations

### Conveyor

- **Free means the trust center:** [pricing](https://www.conveyor.com/pricing) (checked October 2026) excludes questionnaire automation and integrations, caps documents and knowledge-base Q&As at 15 each, and applies a Conveyor-branded NDA and watermark.
- **Credits without a rate card:** Enterprise is quoted, “Pay for what you use, with volume discounts,” per the same page.
- **United States storage:** [trust.conveyor.com](https://trust.conveyor.com/) (checked October 2026) places customer content in the United States. No EU region is named.
- **Layout-sensitive standard files:** [SIG, HECVAT and CAIQ docs](https://docs.conveyor.com/docs/sig-hecvat-caiq) (checked October 2026) expect the original publisher layout.
- **Observability on the model path:** LangChain is a listed subprocessor for monitoring ConveyorAI. Ask what content it receives and how long it is kept.

### SafeBase

- **No standalone price:** [safebase.io/plans redirects](https://drata.com/plans) to Drata, quote-only, with no free plan or trial (checked October 2026).
- **Ten questionnaires, then an add-on:** Foundation includes AI Questionnaire Assistance for 10 questionnaires. Word, PDF and TXT support, plus Salesforce and HubSpot, are listed from Advanced, per [Drata’s plans](https://drata.com/plans) (checked October 2026).
- **Security questions are the tuned job:** the [AIQA FAQ](https://help.safebase.io/en/articles/16203223-ai-questionnaire-assistance-aiqa-faqs) says the assistant “is optimized to answer security-related questions and we cannot guarantee that it will perform well on general RFP questions” (checked October 2026).
- **Extension and multi-product limits:** the [Chrome extension article](https://help.safebase.io/en/articles/16203217-ai-questionnaire-assistance-aiqa-chrome-extension) says portals that block reading need a manual upload, and AI answers are limited to a single product on multi-product trust centers (checked October 2026).
- **Certificate scope:** trust.safebase.io redirects to [Drata’s trust center](https://trust.drata.com/?product=safebase). Confirm SafeBase is inside the SOC 2 and ISO 27001 scope.
- **Thin public reviews:** 3 Capterra reviews as of October 2026, scored 4.7 out of 5.

## Choose Conveyor when

- You want a trust center this month, on the free plan, while you decide whether usage-priced questionnaire automation is worth it.
- Confidence scores, source citations, and original-layout SIG, HECVAT and CAIQ parsing are part of the review routine.
- You do not want the questionnaire product bundled into a broader GRC suite.
- Unlimited users matter more than a questionnaire cap printed on a plan grid.
- OpenAI and Anthropic, with the stated zero data retention terms, are an acceptable model path, and US storage is acceptable.
- You also want an AI RFP module for RFPs, RFIs and RFQs on the same knowledge base, and you have read SafeBase’s own limit on general RFP questions.

## Choose SafeBase when

- Drata is already the compliance system, or you want policies and controls synced from Drata into questionnaire answers.
- The job is a branded trust center: clickwrap NDAs, automated access approvals, and bots in Slack and Teams for those approvals.
- Ten included AI questionnaires on Foundation match your volume, or you have priced the add-on and the Advanced tier for Word, PDF and CRM.
- You want a documented opt-out of generative AI, and you are willing to confirm Vellum and Gemini on the DPA.
- You need the Drata trust center’s listed certifications (SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001) and you will verify SafeBase is in scope.
- General RFP authoring is not the workload. Security questions are.

## Verdict

Conveyor and SafeBase are the same category of product: deflect the review into a trust center, and draft the questionnaire that still shows up, from that content, with a source a person can check. Conveyor’s genuine strengths are the free trust center, confidence scores beside citations, unlimited users on the usage plan, and standard-framework file parsing. SafeBase’s genuine strengths are the shared content between published documents and drafts, source display on each answer, Slack and Teams approvals, and the Drata connection if that is already your control system.

SafeBase is no longer a separate company to contract on its own. Budget the Drata Assurance tiers, read the 10-questionnaire line, and ask the scope question on the audit report. Budget Conveyor as credits, and ask the residency question. Then run one real portal questionnaire and one SIG through both, and see which source trail your reviewer trusts on a Tuesday afternoon.

## Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Conveyor and SafeBase?

Both publish a trust center and draft security-questionnaire answers from that content. Conveyor, started in 2021, is an independent product with a free trust-center plan and usage-based Enterprise pricing. SafeBase, founded in 2020, was acquired by Drata (announced February 11, 2025) and is sold as Drata's Assurance Platform.

How are Conveyor and SafeBase priced?

Conveyor's Free plan is a trust center with 10 credits a month and up to 15 documents. Enterprise is a custom usage quote with unlimited users. SafeBase has no public price: safebase.io/plans redirects to Drata, where Foundation includes AI help for 10 questionnaires and further questionnaires are an add-on. No free plan or trial is listed.

Do they show sources on AI answers?

Conveyor cites every drafted answer back to a source document and adds a confidence score. SafeBase shows a Sources area for each answer, including auto-generated Analyzed Facts. The SafeBase record does not describe a confidence score.

Which formats and portals can they import?

Conveyor imports spreadsheets, Word, PDF and portal questionnaires, and it auto-detects original-layout SIG, HECVAT and CAIQ files. SafeBase's help center lists CSV, Excel, Word, PDF and TXT, plus a Chrome extension for portals such as OneTrust, Whistic, ServiceNow and Coupa. Drata lists Word, PDF and TXT support from the Advanced tier.

Is either one free?

Conveyor has a free trust center and a free trial of the AI. Questionnaire automation needs Enterprise. SafeBase lists no free plan and no trial. Access starts with a demo and personalized pricing on Drata's plans page.

Who should choose Conveyor or SafeBase?

Choose Conveyor if you want a standalone trust center you can start free, confidence scores, and questionnaire automation billed by usage with unlimited seats. Choose SafeBase if you already run, or plan to run, compliance in Drata and you want the trust center and questionnaire assistant sold as the Assurance Platform.
