## Security: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regional hosting

Put Inventive AI and Responsive through the same three questions a security reviewer will ask: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and whether you can keep the tenancy in the US or the EU. Cells say **Not listed** when we could not find the claim on a public vendor page.

__Confirm certificates and residency on the vendor site or Trust Center before a formal review. Responsive: AWS hosting can be elected in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, or the European Union. Azure and Google Cloud entries on the same list are United States only.__

During a live questionnaire, SMEs get pinged in Slack or Teams, not in a vendor portal. Here is what Inventive AI and Responsive publish for those two connections.

## Subprocessors: the big three clouds, then the niche names

Compare Inventive AI and Responsive on AWS, Azure and GCP first. Then scan for niche processors a reviewer should pause on: third-party LLMs, session replay, or support that leaves the region you elected.

__Cloud row lists the big three only. Niche names sit in the notes when the vendor published them.__

**Short answer:** Choose Responsive if you want one large platform that covers intake, drafting, approvals, e-signature and a Trust Center, with AWS hosting in six regions and a vendor that has been doing this since 2015\. Choose Inventive AI if you want agents that draft from the documents you already keep in SharePoint, Drive or Notion, with unlimited users and no library to rebuild. Both start near $10,000 a year, but Responsive charges per user with unlimited projects while Inventive AI charges per RFP with unlimited users (checked October 2026), and that inversion decides most deals.

[Responsive](/responsive) began as RFPIO in Beaverton, Oregon, in 2015, renamed itself in 2023, and bought RFP360, InHub and Bidhive along the way. It says it has nearly 2,000 customers and more than 300,000 users. [Inventive AI](/inventive-ai) raised a $4 million seed round led by Sierra Ventures in September 2024 and sells a much narrower product: AI agents for RFPs, RFIs, DDQs and security questionnaires.

So this is a size mismatch, and it should be. You are choosing between a platform you will build a process around and a tool you will drop into the process you have.

## Key takeaways

- **Opposite meters, similar floor:** Responsive’s Emerging edition starts from $10,000 a year as a platform fee with unlimited projects, plus user licenses and add-ons. Inventive AI starts at $10K a year with unlimited users, plus fees per RFP and security questionnaire (both checked October 2026).
- **Agents on both sides:** Responsive runs analysis, import and writing agents, a TRACE Score on AI answers and a no-code Agent Studio. Inventive AI runs Response, Compliance Checker, Content Governance and Review agents.
- **Hosting choice:** Responsive customers can elect AWS hosting in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Singapore or the EU. Inventive AI does not publish selectable regions.
- **Model transparency:** Responsive names OpenAI (GPT) as a US subprocessor. Inventive AI names OpenAI and Anthropic and says both are under zero-data-retention agreements.
- **Review standing:** Responsive sits at 4.5/5 on G2 from 1,308 reviews (July 2026). Inventive AI’s own score was not checkable (G2 blocked our fetch).
- **Limitations:** Responsive’s Capterra reviewers report export cleanup and suggested answers that miss the question. Inventive AI’s G2 reviewers report light reporting and multi-tab exports that need a fix.

## Same $10,000 floor, opposite meters

Start here, because the pricing pages tell you which team each vendor imagines.

**Responsive** prices in three parts: an annual platform fee, user licenses, and add-ons and services. Its pricing page lists the Emerging edition “Starting from $10,000”; Growth and Enterprise are quoted. Every edition includes unlimited response projects. User pricing is “based on who needs access,” covering admins, contributors and SMEs. Named add-ons include an MCP server and connectors, CRM and API integrations, security, governance and custom reporting, and premium onboarding. The FAQ says “a minimum of 12 months is standard.”

**Inventive AI** also prices in parts: a fixed platform fee that “covers setup, onboarding, and access to all features,” then usage fees for each RFP and security questionnaire you work on. Its pricing page says “Plans start at $10K/year,” that every plan includes unlimited users, and that unused RFPs roll over to the next month and into the next year. There is one plan and no feature tiers. The per-RFP rate is not published.

Put those side by side:

| | Responsive | Inventive AI |

| Published floor | From $10,000 (Emerging platform fee) | From $10K a year |
| Unlimited | Response projects | Users |
| Metered | User licenses, add-ons | RFPs and security questionnaires |
| Feature tiers | Emerging, Growth, Enterprise (plus a Lite edition named in the FAQ) | One plan, all features |
| Stated term | 12-month minimum as standard | Not published |

Here is what that looks like in practice. A team of eight people answering 200 questionnaires a year pays Responsive for eight licenses and nothing per project. The same team on Inventive AI pays for 200 projects and nothing per head. Flip it, a company with 60 occasional SME contributors and 30 RFPs a year, and Inventive AI’s model wins on paper.

Neither $10,000 figure is a total. Get both quotes at your real volume, then again at 1.5 times that volume, and ask Inventive AI to define what counts as one RFP for billing.

## Agents versus agents: what each one does

Both vendors now describe their AI as agents, which makes the feature lists sound identical. They are not.

Responsive’s extras reach outside the response itself. Its Ask desktop app answers from the content library with source citations and can be pointed at external sites such as your help center. “Responsive on ChatGPT” brings approved answers into ChatGPT. If your company is standardizing on ChatGPT, that is a practical bridge.

Inventive AI’s edge is the compliance pass. Checking each security answer against the control framework before submission is the step a tired engineer skips, and Inventive AI built an agent specifically for it. Its homepage makes big claims (95% accurate AI responses, 50% higher win rates). Those are vendor figures without a published method, and we could not verify them.

Neither vendor publishes an independent accuracy benchmark. Run one of your own: a 150-question security questionnaire from last year, answers stripped, through both demos. Count usable citations, wrong citations and honest gaps.

## Which model sees your answers, and where they live

Security reviewers ask this first now, and these two answer it differently.

Responsive’s subprocessor list is specific. Customer data sits on AWS in the region the customer elects: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore or the European Union. OpenAI is listed in the United States for “content writing assistance using generative AI with OpenAI’s GPT AI.” Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure appear in the United States for translation and other AI services, which your privacy team will want to read closely if you chose a non-US region. The pricing page lists “flexible hosting options” as a Growth edition feature, so confirm which regions your edition includes.

Inventive AI’s security page names its model providers and the terms: “custom enterprise agreements in place with leading AI model providers, including OpenAI and Anthropic, ensuring zero data retention.” It says customer data is never used to train generalized models, data is encrypted at rest in AWS with AES-256, and environments sit in isolated VPCs across multiple availability zones. It does not publish selectable hosting regions.

On certifications, Responsive’s data processing addendum says it maintains ISO 27001:2022 certification and an annual SOC 2 Type 2 audit. Inventive AI holds SOC 2 Type II itself; the ISO 27001 line on its security page refers to its cloud providers.

If you sell into Canada, the UK, Australia or Singapore and buyers ask where data sits, Responsive answers that with a dropdown. Inventive AI answers it with a sales call.

## What sits around the response

This is where Responsive’s size shows up as features rather than headcount.

Responsive’s Growth edition adds intake requests (a sales rep fills in a form, the proposal team gets a structured project), LookUp for frontline access to approved content, and e-signature. Its Trust Center lets you publish prefilled questionnaires and documents that customers can access securely, which can stop some questionnaires from arriving in the first place. It lists 20+ native integrations and 75+ APIs, including Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Seismic, Highspot, Door for DDQs and Whistic for vendor assessments, plus add-ins for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Inventive AI keeps to the response. Its integrations page lists 12 connectors: Okta, HubSpot, Zendesk, Microsoft Teams, Google Workspace, Salesforce, OneDrive, Google Drive, Slack, SharePoint, Confluence and Notion. Agentic search works in Slack, the web app and Google Chat, per its pricing page. It respects source-level permissions, so a user who cannot open a SharePoint folder will not get drafts built from it. And its DDQ page covers investor relations teams answering LP questionnaires, which overlaps with the investment-community work Responsive bought InHub to serve.

If you need the front door (intake) and the back door (signature, Trust Center) as well as the room in the middle, only one of these sells all three.

## DDQs and the investment crowd

Both vendors court asset managers, from different directions.

Responsive bought InHub in 2022 specifically to expand into the investment community, per its about page, and its integrations page lists Door, the DDQ platform, for “more accurate DDQ responses.” If your investor relations team already runs on Door, that connection is the practical argument.

Inventive AI’s DDQ page speaks to investor relations directly. It says its agents recognize the same question across differently worded LP and consultant questionnaires, pull the most recent approved answer, and flag any number that has changed since your last submission. The intake agent parses multi-tab spreadsheets with hundreds of questions and writes answers back into the original file. An audit trail records who generated, edited and approved each response.

The test for both is the same. Take last quarter’s ILPA-style DDQ and this quarter’s consultant questionnaire, and see whether the tool notices that your AUM figure moved.

## Size, history and who you are betting on

Responsive brings scale: more than 500 employees, nearly 2,000 customers including more than 20% of the Fortune 500 (its own figures), and 1,308 G2 reviews averaging 4.5/5 as of July 2026\. It also brings the shape of a company grown partly by acquisition. Ask which modules came from RFP360, InHub or Bidhive and how deeply they share one library.

Inventive AI brings speed and focus. Its pricing page includes 24/7 support and says roadmap-aligned feature requests can be prioritized, and customers quoted on the page praise how quickly bugs get fixed. The trade-off is the usual one for a seed-stage vendor: a shorter history, a smaller reference list (HiBob, Culture Amp, Ironclad, Ripple and others on its site), and less certainty about the next five years.

Neither is the safe choice in every sense. One is safe on longevity; the other is safe on not paying for platform you will never switch on.

## Known issues and limitations

### Inventive AI

- **No published per-RFP rate:** plans start at $10K a year, with usage fees per RFP and security questionnaire on top, set on a pricing call, per its [pricing page](https://www.inventive.ai/inventive-ai-pricing) (checked October 2026).
- **No selectable hosting regions published:** the [security page](https://www.inventive.ai/security) describes AWS multi-zone hosting but lists no customer-elected regions (checked October 2026).
- **Light analytics:** [G2 reviewers](https://www.g2.com/products/inventive-ai/reviews) from June to August 2026 call reporting thin (checked October 2026).
- **Export fixes on complex files:** G2 reviewers in June and August 2026 mention multi-tab Excel and complex template exports needing manual cleanup, per the same [G2 page](https://www.g2.com/products/inventive-ai/reviews).

### Responsive

- **Layered cost and a 12-month term:** platform fee from $10,000, plus user licenses and add-ons, a 12-month minimum as standard and a proof of concept only “for qualifying situations,” per its [pricing page](https://www.responsive.io/pricing) (checked October 2026).
- **Export cleanup:** [Capterra reviewers](https://www.capterra.com/p/148054/Responsive/reviews/) report extra hours fixing formatting when exporting back to the buyer’s template, in reviews dated February 2025 and April 2026 (checked October 2026).
- **Suggestion quality:** Capterra reviewers from November 2024 to April 2026 report auto-suggested answers that miss the question and AI drafts that always need review, per the same [Capterra page](https://www.capterra.com/p/148054/Responsive/reviews/).
- **Hosting choice depends on edition:** “flexible hosting options” appear from the Growth edition on the [pricing page](https://www.responsive.io/pricing), so the six regions on the [subprocessor list](https://www.responsive.io/legal/dpa-sub-processor-list) may not all be available at the entry price (checked October 2026).

## Choose Inventive AI when

- Your contributor list is long and your project count is moderate, so unlimited users beats unlimited projects.
- Your source of truth already lives in SharePoint, Google Drive, Notion or Confluence and you do not want to rebuild it as a library.
- Security answers must be checked against SIG, CAIQ or NIST 800-171 controls before they go out, and you want an agent doing that pass.
- Your security team wants named model providers under zero-data-retention terms.
- You want one plan with every feature rather than an edition ladder and an add-on list.

## Choose Responsive when

- You run a high volume of projects with a defined core team, so unlimited projects and per-user licensing work in your favor.
- You need intake requests, e-signature, a Trust Center or Office add-ins in the same contract as the response tool.
- Buyers require data residency in Canada, the UK, Australia, Singapore or the EU.
- You want to build your own no-code agents or bring approved answers into ChatGPT.
- Procurement wants a vendor with a decade of history, thousands of customers and a long review trail.

## Verdict

Different jobs, overlapping at the draft. Responsive is a response operations platform: it wants to own the request, the content, the approval and the signature, and it gives a large team the regions, editions and integrations to do that. Inventive AI is a drafting and checking engine that sits on top of the documents you already maintain and charges for the work, not the headcount.

If your bottleneck is coordination across many teams and regions, Responsive is built for it. If your bottleneck is getting a correct first draft out of scattered documents without growing a content team, Inventive AI is the closer fit. Or, as a colleague might say: Responsive if you are building a department, Inventive AI if you are trying to avoid needing one.

## Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Inventive AI and Responsive?

Responsive (formerly RFPIO, founded 2015) is a broad strategic response platform with a content library, AI agents, intake requests, e-signature, a Trust Center and a choice of six AWS hosting regions. Inventive AI is a younger, narrower tool that drafts RFP, DDQ and security questionnaire answers from connected systems such as SharePoint and Google Drive, using separate agents for drafting, compliance checks, content governance and review.

Which is cheaper, Inventive AI or Responsive?

Both start around $10,000 a year but meter opposite things. Responsive's Emerging edition starts from $10,000 as a platform fee with unlimited projects, plus user licenses and add-ons. Inventive AI starts at $10K a year as a platform fee with unlimited users, plus usage fees per RFP and security questionnaire (both checked October 2026).

Which AI models do Inventive AI and Responsive use?

Responsive's subprocessor list names OpenAI (GPT) in the United States for generative writing, plus Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure for some AI and translation services. Inventive AI says it has enterprise agreements with OpenAI and Anthropic that ensure zero data retention, and that customer data never trains generalized models.

Can I host data outside the US with Inventive AI or Responsive?

Responsive lets customers elect AWS hosting in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore or the European Union, with flexible hosting listed from its Growth edition. Inventive AI's security page says it hosts on AWS with multi-zone redundancy but does not list customer-selectable regions, so ask before you sign.

Can I trial Inventive AI or Responsive before buying?

Neither runs a self-serve free trial. Responsive says it provisions a proof of concept only for qualifying situations and that a 12-month minimum term is standard. Inventive AI routes buyers to a 15-minute pricing call and a demo; it publishes no trial or term length.

Should I choose Inventive AI or Responsive?

Choose Responsive if you need one platform for intake, response, signatures and a Trust Center, with data residency outside the US and a large vendor behind it. Choose Inventive AI if you want AI drafting from documents you already maintain, many occasional contributors at no seat cost, and a smaller, faster-moving vendor.

Do Inventive AI and Responsive list ISO 27001, SOC 2, and US or EU hosting?

Inventive AI: ISO 27001 Not listed, SOC 2 SOC 2, US Not listed, EU Not listed, Slack Slack, Teams Microsoft Teams, clouds Not listed. Responsive: ISO 27001 ISO 27001:2022, SOC 2 SOC 2 Type II, US Yes (customer-elected AWS region), EU Yes (customer-elected AWS region), Slack Slack, Teams Microsoft Teams (Responsive Bot), clouds AWS, Azure, GCP. Confirm both on the vendor sites.
