Security: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and regional hosting
Put AutogenAI and Qvidian through the same three questions a security reviewer will ask: ISO 27001, SOC 2, and whether you can keep the tenancy in the US or the EU. Cells say Not listed when we could not find the claim on a public vendor page.

Subprocessors: the big three clouds, then the niche names

Short answer: Pick Qvidian if your proposal factory already runs on governed templates, Word and PowerPoint, Salesforce-started projects, and an audit trail, and you are deciding whether to add AI Assist. Pick AutogenAI if you want an LLM-first draft of a long narrative bid, especially a federal or international public-sector tender, and you will scope a quote, seat minimums, and which environment (commercial or FedRAMP High) you are buying. Both hide the price. They do not hide the genre.
Qvidian is Upland Software’s proposal and RFP product, headquartered for this directory in Austin, Texas. Upland’s catalog is wider than proposals (the company also sells products in other software categories). Qvidian itself is positioned around the deal cycle: reusable content, approvals, and formatted output. G2 shows 4.3 out of 5 from 166 reviews as of July 2026. A Capterra figure already published in this directory’s Qvidian comparison, checked October 2026, is 4.4 out of 5 from 41 reviews. Named customers include Nestlé, NetApp, Trane Technologies, Dell, HP and BT. AutogenAI was founded in 2022 in London. G2 shows 4.3 out of 5 from 159 reviews as of July 2026. Named customers include Salesforce, SERCO, HGS, AMS Group and oOh! Media.
Same neighborhood of G2 score, similar review counts, different decades of product shape. Qvidian’s concession is longevity: permissions, a central library, and document assembly that large proposal teams already know. AutogenAI’s concession is narrative drafting and a public-sector security story that includes a separate FedRAMP High environment. Give each of those without pretending they cancel out.
Key takeaways
- Where AI sits: Qvidian AI Assist is an optional add-on “for an additional fee,” and it runs in Qvidian for Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Upland has described Qvidian for Web as a planned extension. AutogenAI’s Storyboard and Project Inputs are the core product, not a line item you discover later, in the record used here.
- Price: both are quotes. AutogenAI’s 2026 guide adds minimum seat commitments and up-front onboarding time. Qvidian includes Salesforce, Office and web integrations for licensed users, and charges extra for AI Assist.
- Document craft: Qvidian lists branded templates, PowerPoint pitch decks, statements of work, and a large report catalog (the product pages cite 70+ reports). AutogenAI lists a storyboard, win-theme inputs, and a SharePoint-synced knowledge library.
- Devices: Upland’s January 2024 configuration guide states that Qvidian functionality is not supported on a mobile device, and that legacy Office add-ins content architects need are Windows-only. AutogenAI does not publish that Windows-add-in constraint in this record.
- Attestations: Qvidian’s security page highlights SSAE 118 and ISAE 3402. Its technology page lists ISO 27001 and an older SSAE 16 Type II reference. AutogenAI’s trust center supports SOC 2 and ISO 27001, plus FedRAMP High on the federal environment only.
- Search and drafts, from reviewers: G2 reviewers of Qvidian in October through December 2023 say library search misses the right answer and returns repeats. Reviewers in October 2023 and January 2026 ask for AI first drafts. A Capterra reviewer in March 2025 wrote that Qvidian had “no AI feature as of yet.”
A template factory or a narrative model
Qvidian earns its keep on the document you can hold. Product pages list proactive proposals, RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, statements of work, DDQs, security questionnaires and pitch decks through a PowerPoint integration. Branded templates carry style rules. Content expiration, usage tracking, review jobs and a report builder sit on top of the library. Upland’s integrations page says Qvidian for Salesforce, Office and Web are included at no additional cost for licensed users, and reps can create projects from an opportunity. That Salesforce path, included, is a real strength for a sales-led proposal team. Permissioning and parallel section editing are why incumbents stay. G2 reviewers from 2023 to 2026 credit the central library and Upland support. Quote that credit. It is the reason a renewal happens even when the interface draws complaints.
AutogenAI earns its keep on the blank section. The vendor’s summary is an LLM-first writer for essay-style bids, mostly federal and government, including international tenders. Storyboard builds a first draft from the solicitation’s requirements. Project Inputs hold win themes and mandatory phrases where writers can see them. SharePoint sync is the reuse path. Teams is the collaboration path in the integration list. There is no recorded equivalent of Qvidian’s PowerPoint template engine or 70-report catalog. If your differentiator is a branded deck assembled from approved slides, Qvidian still describes that job and AutogenAI does not. If your differentiator is a 30-page narrative that has to sound like this capture, AutogenAI describes that job and Qvidian’s reviewers have been asking for a first draft.
Upland says Qvidian is used by 8 of the 10 largest US banks and 4 of the 5 largest asset managers. That is a vendor claim, repeated here as a vendor claim, not as an audited market share. It fits a product sold into document-heavy enterprises. It does not answer whether those banks have turned on AI Assist.
AI Assist versus a writer that starts with the model
This is the purchasing fork in 2026.
Qvidian AI Assist, on Upland’s AI Assist page checked October 2026, rewrites library content for tone, length and voice, generates new answers from library content, and lets a user query an RFP for key information. Admins can set rules for tone, terminology, length and language. AI-generated answers are flagged for human review. Upland says generated responses are not used to train the model and that data passed to the models is not stored. The feature is optional and priced as an additional fee. It runs in the Word, Excel and PowerPoint clients. Web is described as planned. So a team can keep Qvidian for governance and still be waiting on a draft unless the add-on is in the order. Reviewers noticed the gap on the dates above: “no AI feature as of yet” (Capterra, March 2025), and requests for suggested answers in place of manual search (G2, October 2023 and January 2026). If your renewal quote omits AI Assist, you are buying the library you already know.
AutogenAI does not present drafting as optional in this directory. The buyer guide’s complaints are commercial and operational: contact sales, enterprise tier, minimum seats, and onboarding time because the lifecycle is wide. Judge the draft on a solicitation, not on a feature matrix. Long-form quality is the strength to concede. It is also the only strength that matters if your bids are essays. It is the wrong strength to pay for if your bids are template merges and approval chains that already work.
Neither vendor publishes an accuracy methodology you can recompute. Qvidian flags AI output for review when AI Assist is on. AutogenAI’s DPA tells you which model vendors may see a prompt unless you have a region-exclusive agreement. Those are controls. They are not a score.
Governance paperwork, offices, and phones
Qvidian’s security page lists user permissions, a content audit trail of changes, 24/7 monitoring, GDPR, and SSAE 118 and ISAE 3402. The technology-industry page lists ISO 27001 and SSAE 16 Type II. Those pages do not say the same thing. If a customer security questionnaire asks for a current ISO 27001 certificate, request it from the Upland trust center (product-level packs there may sit behind an NDA). The directory records SOC 2 as well, and tells you to treat SOC 2 and SSAE 118 as related attestations until you have the report. Hosting: the January 2024 configuration guide documents qvidian.com for the US data center and qvidian.eu for the European one. Upland has also described a migration onto AWS. Slack is not listed as a collaboration app in the vendor record. Microsoft 365 is.
The same configuration guide is blunt about clients. Qvidian functionality is not supported on a mobile device. Legacy Office add-ins that some library architecture edits require run on Windows, so Mac users need a virtual PC, and some of those edits have no add-in-free alternative. Writers who only insert approved answers may never open that add-in. Content architects will. A proposal team issued MacBooks should read that PDF before the demo, not after the pilot.
AutogenAI’s paperwork is the trust center plus the DPA. SOC 2 and ISO 27001 are recorded from the trust center (August 2026). FedRAMP High applies to AutogenAI Federal, hosted in Palantir’s FedRAMP High cloud on AWS GovCloud, described as US-only for federal customers. Commercial buyers on AWS or Azure in the US, or UK and EU buyers on AWS and Azure in the UK, are a different contract. Australia and Canada region packs exist on the DPA. Single-region processing is opt-in by agreement. Otherwise OpenAI, Mistral (Sweden, non-exclusive customers) and Exa Labs (web retrieval) are in the subprocessor picture, alongside Google, AWS and Azure as model or infrastructure providers by region. There is no mobile-add-in constraint in the record, and no claim that AutogenAI replaces Word template governance.
Audit depth is still Qvidian’s home field: who changed the paragraph, when it expires, which report shows usage. Narrative generation is AutogenAI’s home field. A bank that already lives in Qvidian and wants a first draft should price AI Assist before it prices a second platform. A contractor that does not live in Qvidian and writes federal narratives should not adopt a Windows add-in suite only to get a model.
Quotes, seats, and what “included” hides
Put the same worksheet in front of both sellers.
- Writers who are in the tool every week, and SMEs who appear twice a quarter. Qvidian reviewers on Capterra in 2018 said SMEs needed licenses to update content. Ask if that is still true. AutogenAI’s guide warns that minimum seat commitments are a problem for very small teams. Ask what the minimum is in writing.
- AI drafting: on or off. For Qvidian that is the AI Assist fee. For AutogenAI that is the product.
- Salesforce: included for licensed Qvidian users, per Upland’s integrations page. Not listed for AutogenAI.
- SharePoint and Teams: both.
- Residency and FedRAMP: which Qvidian host (US or EU), which AutogenAI tenant (commercial region pack or Federal).
- Onboarding: AutogenAI’s guide says it takes dedicated time. Qvidian’s services line is whatever Upland quotes. Get days, not adjectives.
- Migration, if you are leaving one for the other: template components, merge codes and slide masters do not automatically become a storyboard, and a storyboard does not automatically become a branded SOW template. Scope the content types separately.
No dollar appears on either public page checked for this article. Any number you hear in a first call should come back on an order form before it enters a spreadsheet.
Known issues and limitations
AutogenAI
- No published price: AutogenAI’s buyer guide says “Contact for pricing” and names enterprise-tier pricing with minimum seat commitments as a con for very small teams (checked October 2026).
- Onboarding time, in the vendor’s words: the same guide says onboarding requires a dedicated up-front time investment because the platform covers the proposal lifecycle (checked October 2026).
- Federal badge is environmental: AutogenAI Federal is separate, on AWS GovCloud. Commercial tenants should not assume FedRAMP High (checked October 2026).
- Model and search vendors: the DPA lists OpenAI, Mistral for non-region-exclusive customers, and Exa Labs unless single-region terms say otherwise (checked October 2026).
- Connector list is short: SharePoint and Microsoft Teams. No Slack listing, and no Salesforce connector in the vendor record.
Qvidian
- AI is extra: AI Assist is optional “for an additional fee,” per the AI Assist page (checked October 2026).
- No mobile, Windows add-ins: the configuration guide (January 2024) states functionality is not supported on a mobile device, and Mac users need a virtual PC for legacy Office add-ins (checked October 2026).
- Search complaints, dated: G2 reviewers from October to December 2023 say library search does not always surface the right answer and returns repeated results (checked October 2026).
- Reviewers asking for drafts: G2 reviewers in October 2023 and January 2026 ask for AI first drafts. A Capterra reviewer in March 2025 wrote “no AI feature as of yet” (Capterra, checked October 2026).
- Attestation pages disagree: the security page lists SSAE 118 and ISAE 3402. The technology page lists ISO 27001 and SSAE 16 Type II (checked October 2026). Pull the current report.
- Quote only: no public tier. Pricing comes through Upland.
Choose Qvidian when
- Output is a branded proposal, statement of work or pitch deck assembled from approved pieces.
- Opportunities begin in Salesforce and the connector needs to be included for licensed users.
- Auditors want an amendment history, expiration dates and a stack of standard reports.
- Content architects work on Windows in Word and PowerPoint, and mobile editing is not a requirement.
- The library and the approval chain already work, and the open question is whether to buy AI Assist.
- You are renewing, not green-field, and the switching cost sits in templates and permissions more than in the model.
Choose AutogenAI when
- The scored product is long-form narrative, and win themes have to stay intact across a large bid.
- You are writing federal or international public-sector tenders and you have identified the correct tenant.
- You want drafting in the product you are buying, not as a later add-on.
- SharePoint and Teams cover the stack you will actually connect.
- The proposal office is large enough that a seat minimum and a formal onboarding are acceptable, which is the condition AutogenAI’s own guide sets.
- You do not need Qvidian’s PowerPoint factory, mobile access, or a Windows add-in, because those are not why you are here.
Traceable structured answers, if that was the real question
Some teams open a Qvidian versus AutogenAI tab because both say “proposals,” then discover the queue is security questionnaires and DDQs. That queue is a third decision. AutoRFP.ai belongs in the AI-native row and in the accuracy and compliance row for structured RFPs, security questionnaires and DDQs. Zero hallucination by design is the standard to test on your file: AutoRFP.ai writes only from approved content, cites its sources, and routes anything it cannot support to a person. It does not replace Qvidian’s template and audit factory, and it does not replace AutogenAI’s public-sector narrative lane. If you are leaving Qvidian because reviewers asked for first drafts, also read how Qvidian compares with Responsive, which is the response-platform alternative already written up here. If you are choosing a narrative engine, stay on this page and make AutogenAI show a section from your last tender.
Verdict
Qvidian is the incumbent document system: governance, templates, Salesforce, an audit trail, a Windows and desktop client model, and AI you add and pay for. Reviewers have praised the library and support, and other reviewers have asked search to find the right answer and have asked for a draft. AutogenAI is the newer narrative writer: storyboard, themes, a London company founded in 2022, a federal environment that is not the default tenant, and a quote the vendor’s own guide frames as enterprise seats plus onboarding time.
Keep Qvidian when the asset is the governed document and the process around it. Choose AutogenAI when the asset is the narrative draft and the public-sector context, after the DPA and the tenant name are in the contract. If the asset is a questionnaire with a source on every row, you are in a different shortlist than either logo on this page.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between AutogenAI and Qvidian?
Qvidian is Upland Software's long-running proposal system, built around a governed content library, branded Word and PowerPoint output, and approval controls, with generative AI sold as the AI Assist add-on. AutogenAI, founded in 2022 in London, is an LLM-first writer for long-form narrative bids, especially federal and international public-sector tenders, including a separate FedRAMP High environment.
Which is cheaper, AutogenAI or Qvidian?
Neither publishes a price list as of October 2026. Qvidian is quoted through Upland. AI Assist is an additional fee, while Salesforce, Office and web access are described as included for licensed users. AutogenAI's own 2026 buyer guide says "Contact for pricing" and cites enterprise-tier pricing with minimum seat commitments.
Which is better for government narrative bids?
AutogenAI's positioning is that job: Storyboard drafts from solicitation requirements, and AutogenAI Federal is a separate FedRAMP High environment on AWS GovCloud. Qvidian can assemble governed proposals and questionnaires from its library, but FedRAMP High is not in its directory record. Confirm Qvidian's current attestations on the Upland trust center.
Do AutogenAI and Qvidian work in Microsoft Word?
Qvidian is Word-centric: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint and Teams are listed, with legacy Office add-ins that the configuration guide says are Windows-only. AutogenAI's recorded integrations are SharePoint and Microsoft Teams. Its drafting model is the bid storyboard, not a legacy Office add-in.
Is there a free trial?
No self-serve trial is recorded for either vendor. Both are enterprise quotes. AutogenAI's guide also says onboarding takes a dedicated up-front time investment.
Should I choose AutogenAI or Qvidian?
Choose Qvidian if you already depend on its templates, audit trail and Salesforce-started projects, and you can add AI Assist if you want drafts. Choose AutogenAI if you are buying narrative generation for public-sector bids and you do not need Qvidian's document factory.
Do AutogenAI and Qvidian list ISO 27001, SOC 2, and US or EU hosting?
AutogenAI: ISO 27001 ISO 27001, SOC 2 SOC 2, US Yes (AWS and Azure US; FedRAMP High on AWS GovCloud), EU Yes (AWS and Azure UK for UK and EU customers), Slack Not listed, Teams Microsoft Teams, clouds AWS, Azure, GCP. Qvidian: ISO 27001 ISO 27001 (older product pages), SOC 2 SOC 2 / SSAE 118, US Yes (qvidian.com US data center), EU Yes (qvidian.eu European data center), Slack Not listed, Teams Not listed, clouds AWS. Confirm both on the vendor sites.
