ContraVault AI is a tender-analysis tool first and a response tool second. It reads the thousand-page bid pack and tells you whether the job is worth chasing. Then it flags the clauses that will hurt you and drafts your pre-bid queries. Proposal drafting and bid-form filling exist, but they sit downstream of that analysis. If you run bids for a construction or energy contractor, that order of priorities is probably the right one for you. If you answer software RFPs and security questionnaires, this is not your tool.

Everything here comes from ContraVault’s own site (pricing and security pages, customer stories) and from Inc42’s June 2026 funding report, read in October 2026. None of it is from hands-on use. Treat the demo checklist at the end as the part that matters.

The verdict up front

Shortlist ContraVault AI if your bid team is drowning in specs and addenda, and the expensive mistake is bidding on the wrong job or missing a liquidated-damages clause. The go/no-go and risk tooling is the product’s centre of gravity, and the customer stories back that up.

Skip it if your work is questionnaire-shaped, like DDQs or 200-row RFP spreadsheets for a SaaS product. Its own pricing FAQ describes an AEC-focused product, built for general contractors and specialty trades, plus EPC and energy bidders. That is an honest scope statement, and you should take it at face value.

On the “is it a government contracting tool?” question, the answer is yes in a specific sense. Inc42 reported that about 85% of its business came from clients bidding on government projects, and most Indian infrastructure is bought through public tenders. Its homepage also names GovCon teams as an audience. But this is not a US federal capture suite, and the pages we read do not mention FedRAMP or CMMC.

What it actually does

ContraVault was founded in 2024, per Inc42. The About page lists three co-founders: Sayan Sen as CEO, Isha Juneja as COO and Tanmay Juneja as CTO. The legal entity named in its privacy policy is Tanishayan Technologies Private Limited, registered in Delhi, with a US subsidiary called Blozum, Inc. in Delaware. In its pre-Series A round it raised $3.1 million, led by Chiratae Ventures with Titan Capital, and Inc42 reported the money is earmarked for US expansion.

The product splits into a few motions:

  • Bid intelligence. A Go/No-Go Analyzer scores the tender against your criteria. An AI synopsis summarises the pack. RiskFinder flags contractual risk, and a Contradiction Finder looks for conflicts across multiple documents in the same tender.
  • Pre-bid clarifications. An RFI generator drafts the clarification questions you would otherwise write by hand at midnight.
  • Bid submission. It finds every required form and declaration in the pack and auto-fills them from a saved company profile. It also detects required certificates and flags missing or expired ones. The submission page names W-9s and bonding letters among the attachments that get bids rejected.
  • Proposal drafting. A Proposal Writing Suite (drafting and reuse) is on every plan, and the pricing FAQ says it drafts sections with clause-level references back to the tender.
  • Estimating. TheTakeoff.AI is a sister product that counts and measures from drawings to build material takeoffs.

There are also two side doors. An issuer-side product helps buyers draft tenders and then evaluate the bids that come back. A vendor-sourcing module drafts RFQs and compares supplier quotes. And the IT industry page pitches tender discovery across Indian portals such as GeM and CPPP. That is a lot of surface area for a company founded in 2024, so ask which modules your contract actually covers.

How analysis and drafting work

You upload the tender pack. The homepage FAQ lists the usual office formats plus scanned documents via OCR. The pricing FAQ says most RFPs are analysed in 5 to 15 minutes and large multi-volume packages can take up to 30, by ContraVault’s own estimate. The Voltas case study puts a 1,000-page tender at three to four minutes.

The accuracy numbers need a pinch of salt. The homepage FAQ claims 95%+ accuracy in requirement extraction and risk identification. The privacy page, describing internal evaluations, says approximately 99%+ accuracy in clause analysis. Those are different measures on different pages, both self-reported. Neither is a reason to skip the human read; they are a reason to bring your own tender and check.

The knowledge model is lighter than a classic answer library. The submission tooling keeps a company knowledge repository so recurring details and certificates get stored once and reused. The drafting suite mentions reuse. The public pages do not describe a governed Q&A library with owners and review dates, the way questionnaire tools describe theirs. For tender work that is a reasonable trade, since every pack is different. For repeat questionnaires it would be a gap.

Collaboration gets one line in the pricing FAQ. It lists role-based access and shared workspaces, plus comments, tasks and review workflows, so estimators and subject experts work from one source. No Slack or Microsoft Teams connection is listed. Integrations named on the homepage are construction tools: Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, PlanGrid and Microsoft Project, plus API access.

Security and compliance posture

The privacy and security page makes strong claims. It says ContraVault is SOC 2 Type 2 certified and GDPR-compliant, and lists ISO 9001:2015, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27017:2015 and ISO 27018:2019. It describes AWS-native encryption: AES-256 at rest with KMS-managed keys rotated every 15 days, and TLS 1.2 or higher in transit. It states that customer data is not used to train external models, that processing stays within one primary region, and that no subcontractors process data.

Two caveats. First, the page header says it was last updated in December 2024, and the opening paragraph says May 2024, so ask for current reports rather than relying on the page. Second, the homepage FAQ phrases it as “SOC 2 compliance”, which is softer wording than “certified”. Ask for the SOC 2 Type 2 report and the ISO certificates with their issue dates and scope. The page does not name a hosting region or an AI model provider; ask about both. A dedicated instance or VPC is listed as optional on Enterprise.

Pricing and how to buy it

There are three plans on the pricing page, and none of them has a price. Every path leads to a demo request.

The feature grid is still useful, because it shows where the lines are drawn:

  • Starter includes go/no-go and the synopsis, the proposal writing suite, RiskFinder, contextual search and the pre-bid RFI generator. SSO and audit trails are add-ons here, as are API access and integrations.
  • Professional adds forms auto-fill and bid-package attachments, multi-document analysis and the Contradiction Finder, plus web search and translation. SSO and audit trails are included from here.
  • Enterprise adds Claims AI and a dedicated customer success manager, with a dedicated instance as an option.

In practice, the features that make it a contractor’s tool (contradictions across documents, form auto-fill) start at Professional. Price your evaluation there.

Where it falls short

  • No published prices. All three plans are quote-only, so you cannot budget before a sales call.
  • Starter is thin for real tenders. The Contradiction Finder and multi-document analysis start at Professional, and so does forms auto-fill.
  • Governance costs extra at the bottom. On Starter, SSO and audit trails are add-ons, and so are API access and integrations.
  • Narrow by design. Its own FAQ scopes it to AEC bids, so commercial questionnaire teams sit outside its stated focus.

Who should shortlist it, and who should skip it

Shortlist it if you are an EPC contractor or specialty trade that reads big tender packs and makes the bid call under time pressure. Missed clauses are what keep you up at night. The named customers (Voltas, Sterling and Wilson, Toyo Engineering, Paharpur, HTL Aircon, Allscope Services) are exactly that crowd.

Skip it if you are a SaaS or financial-services team answering security questionnaires and DDQs, or a US federal contractor who needs a capture pipeline and an authorised cloud environment. Other tools in this directory are built for those jobs.

How it sits next to its peers

GovDash is the US federal answer: capture through proposal for government contractors, with FedRAMP Moderate Equivalency and integrations such as eBuy. If your bids go to US agencies, GovDash fits that world far better. ContraVault is stronger on reading construction tender packs, from contract risk to bid-form assembly, which is not GovDash’s lane.

Tendium monitors European public procurement and helps write the bid, with a published Light plan at €125 a month and unlimited users. That is more transparent and better suited to European public-sector sellers. ContraVault goes deeper on contract risk and contradiction-finding in the tender itself, which matters more on a large infrastructure contract than on a software framework.

Xait is built for many people writing one long document together under tight permissions, and it is aimed at energy and manufacturing bid teams. If your bottleneck is co-authoring the response, Xait is the better tool. If your bottleneck is understanding the tender before anyone writes a word, ContraVault is aimed squarely at that.

AutoRFP.ai is the accuracy-first tool for writing winning responses in a workflow that is easy to run. It drafts structured Word and Excel RFPs for software and finance teams from approved content, showing where each answer came from, on flat plans from $899 a month with unlimited users. It is the better fit for repeat questionnaire-style work. ContraVault does a different job: construction tender triage and submission hygiene, where an answer library matters less than spotting a clause in volume three.

What to test in a demo

Bring a real tender, ideally one you already bid or declined, so you know the right answers.

  1. Go/no-go on a known job. Run a tender you passed on and see whether the analyzer reaches the same call for the same reasons.
  2. Plant a contradiction. Use a pack where the spec and the contract conditions disagree. Check whether the Contradiction Finder catches it and cites both clauses.
  3. Scanned pages. Include a badly scanned addendum. OCR quality is where tender tools quietly fail.
  4. Follow the references. Pick three risk flags and three drafted proposal paragraphs, and click through to the cited clauses.
  5. Forms and certificates. Load your company profile with one expired insurance certificate. See whether it gets flagged.
  6. Plan boundaries. Ask exactly which modules are in Starter versus Professional, and get the price of each in writing.
  7. Security paperwork. Request the SOC 2 Type 2 report and the ISO certificates with dates. Then ask for the hosting region and the AI model provider.
  8. Integrations in practice. Ask for a live demo of the Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud connection, not a slide.

The bottom line: ContraVault AI is a sharp tool for contractors deciding which tenders to chase and catching what the contract hides. Just do not buy it expecting a questionnaire engine.

Overview

Who should pick ContraVault AI, and who should skip it

Pick it if you fit this profile: estimators and tender managers at EPC contractors and specialty trades who decide bid or no-bid on large public and private tenders. Where it earns its place: Built for the read-and-decide stage: go/no-go calls and risk flags land on large tender packs before any writing starts.

Look elsewhere if this limitation is a deal-breaker: No prices are published for any of its three plans; every plan goes through a demo request. Also look around if ddqs is central to how you work (0/3 here). In that case, one of the ContraVault AI alternatives may fit better.
